National Heritage: palaces, museums, gardens: record number of visits

2024 has ended with a record number of visits to the palaces, monasteries, museums and green spaces managed by Spain’s National Heritage. A total of 7,169,027 visitors were received, 12.52% more than in 2023. The busiest month was December, with over half a million visits to the monuments as a whole.

The data released shows that the palaces, monasteries and museums had a total of 4,003,704 visitors, with the Royal Palace of Madrid standing out with 1,563,869 people, followed by the Gallery of the Royal Collections (648,209) and the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial (435,543). The tercentenary celebrations at the Royal Site of La Granja (Segovia), with special visits to the palace and the gardens and special light shows during the fountain display season, attracted 680,845 tourists.

The natural spaces managed by the institution have registered 3,165,323 visits and the month of May boasts the best figures: 11.23% of the total. The public’s favourites were the Garden of the Island and the Prince’s Garden of the Royal Palace of Aranjuez (Madrid), with a total of 1,270,190 visitors.
