Renfe closes a record year for all its trains

26 February, 2025

In 2024, Renfe reached its all-time high for passengers transported in a year, with over 537 million passengers when adding up its commercial services (AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Euromed and Intercity) and public services. This total figure represents an increase of 2.7% over the previous year and highlights the consolidation of the growth of Renfe’s services.

The previous all-time record for Renfe passengers in a year dates back to 2006, when 527.9 million customers were transported on the company’s trains, both commercial and public services. The growth in demand for commercial services was particularly significant last year.

In 2024 a total of 35.2 million travellers chose AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Euromed and Intercity. This figure represents an increase of 14.4% over the previous year. The introduction of the S-106 trains since 21 May has meant a notable increase in the number of seats on Avlo services for high-speed connections between Madrid, Aragón, Cataluña, Comunitat Valenciana and Murcia.
