One café in Madrid and two in Barcelona, among the best in the world

5 March, 2025

The first world ranking of coffee shops, The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops, was published in February as part of the Coffee Fest Madrid. And it includes the names of three Spanish establishments: Hola Coffee Lagasca, in Madrid, and Nomad Frutas Selectas and D•Origen Coffee Roasters, in Barcelona.

The Madrid café is ranked 12th, the highest position of any Spanish establishment. Located in the Salamanca district, it is characterised by the care taken in both the product (they roast their own coffee) and the space, with colour as its hallmark. “The structure is simple and we play with the colour of the crockery, the decoration... The flowers change every week,” said the managers.

In 25th place is Nomad Frutas Selectas, one of the establishments of the consolidated and award-winning Barcelona roaster which reopened last summer following a change of concept. In the same city, but in L’Eixample, is the third establishment to make it into the top 100: D•Origen Coffee Roasters, which roasts its own coffee.
