Renfe has announced the launch of a new direct high-speed train (AVE) that will connect Madrid and Barcelona in two and a half hours, starting on Friday, March 7th. The new service is AVE 3131, which extends its service to Fridays at the start of the weekend, departing at 13:00 from Madrid Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes station and arriving at 15:30 at Barcelona-Sants station.

Until now, this AVE train only ran from Monday to Thursday. In this way, Renfe puts into service a total of 52 high-speed trains on Fridays (26 in each direction) on the Barcelona-Madrid route.

Regarding Friday trains, 19 trains are direct and allow travel between the two cities in just two and a half hours. The company offers customers, especially business travellers, a more complete direct offer between Madrid and Barcelona, expanding the possibilities for travel.
