Catalonia reinforces presence in Andalusia with a second hotel in Malaga
21 May, 2025Catalonia Hotels & Resorts has inaugurated the Catalonia Puerta del Mar, its second hotel in Malaga and eighth in Andalusia, following an investment of 24 million euros. The 4-star establishment, located in the historic centre of the city, has 74 rooms equipped with domotic technology, a gym and a gastro bar.
The hotel has been developed on a complex of three renovated buildings, respecting historical elements such as façades, lintels and cast-iron balconies. The refurbishment has integrated sustainable measures such as LED lighting, VRV air conditioning with heat recovery, grey water treatment for reuse, thermal insulation and automated drip irrigation.

Here, Catalonia reinforces its presence in Andalusia, where it already operates hotels in Seville, Ronda, Granada and Malaga, and advances in its expansion strategy based on sustainability and diversification. In addition, the chain plans to open its eighth hotel in the centre of Madrid and is building its first resort in Africa: the Catalonia Grand Zanzibar All Suites & Spa.
According to Federico Holzmann, Director of Expansion, the company seeks to continue growing in consolidated urban and holiday destinations, taking advantage of strategic opportunities to strengthen its positioning.
