Tenerife: a consolidated destination for experiences and active tourism
21 May, 2025Tenerife is making progress in its positioning as a destination for experiences beyond the sun and beach, highlighting its offer of nature, sport, gastronomy, culture and active tourism. This was stated by Lope Afonso, vice-president of the Town Council and Dimple Melwani, CEO of Tenerife Tourism, during the presentation of their campaign at the Mutua Madrid Open, which was attended by nearly 400,000 people.
The island offers activities such as hiking, paragliding, kite surfing, windsurfing, Teide trail and high level sporting events such as ATP tournaments. It also has one of the highest concentrations of 5-star hotels in Europe and an outstanding gastronomy with 10 Michelin stars and more than 40 Repsol suns.
Tenerife is connected to 159 airports in 29 markets thanks to 54 airlines. Its climate allows for year-round experiences in both the north and south of the island.
The destination combines this offer with a focus on sustainability, managing 50% of the territory as a protected area and applying fiscal measures to preserve its natural resources and improve coexistence with residents.
