Two million Britons arrived in Spain by air in April

A total of two million air passengers from the UK arrived in Spain in April, representing 21.1% of all international arrivals, according to Turespaña data. This figure represents a year-on-year increase of 8.4%, in a month marked by travel linked to Easter.

The Canaries were the main destination for these British travellers, accounting for 26.1% of arrivals. The Balearic Islands and Andalusia recorded equal shares of 16.6%, while the Region of Valencia reached 16.4%. This distribution shows the importance of the UK market in the tourism activity of several autonomous communities.

The growth in air traffic from the UK is part of the overall increase of 9.5% in international arrivals to Spain in April, reaching 9.7 million passengers. In the first quarter, the country received 30.8 million passengers (+7.4%). The April figures confirm the strong demand from UK travellers for sun and beach consolidating their strategic importance.
