Granada renovates its Conference Centre to boost MICE tourism
4 June, 2025The Andalusian Regional Government has awarded Ferrovial a 5.8 million euro contract to refurbish the Granada Exhibition and Conference Centre in what will be the largest project in more than three decades. The aim is to further position the city as a benchmark destination for meetings and congress tourism, especially after hosting events such as the Goya Awards Gala or a European summit. The funding comes partly from EU Next Generation funds and from the Palace Consortium, made up of the Regional Govt. (66%) and the Granada City Council (34%).
The works include the drafting of the project and its implementation, focusing on two axes: sustainability and accessibility. A reduction of at least 30% in energy consumption is expected through new air conditioning systems, high-efficiency heat pump hot water systems and solar panels. The thermal envelope of the entrance glass cube will also be improved and the energy use of communal areas will be optimised.

In terms of accessibility, the site will be fully adapted in accordance with current regulations, both inside and outside accesses. Councillor Rocío Díaz pointed out that these improvements reinforce the venue’s role as an economic engine for the events and congresses sector.
