PortAventura: 30 years as a driving force for tourism on the Costa Daurada
4 June, 2025PortAventura World has been consolidated as one of the most important tourist destinations in Europe for 30 years. Since its opening on 1 May 1995, the complex has evolved from a theme park with five areas to a resort with three parks, ten hotels and a convention centre. The accumulated figure of over 100 million visitors and a season that has gone from 180 to over 300 days of opening per year make it an example of effective deseasonalisation on the Costa Daurada.
In this context, the resort welcomes the summer with the reopening of Caribe Aquatic Park, with more than 50,000 m², 16 attractions and pools and a total of 2.08km of slides. Its facilities include King Khajuna, one of Europe’s highest slides and children’s areas such as Sésamo Beach.

The resort’s strategy includes tailor-made stays in its themed hotels, with admission to PortAventura Park and Ferrari Land included, as well as discounts for the water park. This combination of leisure, accommodation and gastronomy allows the destination to diversify its offer and extend the season beyond the summer, including campaigns such as Halloween and Christmas.
