Green Spain Ecotourist Reserve: 118 routes for slow travel
2 July, 2025The north of the peninsula is launching a new tourism product aimed at the sustainable traveller: the Green Spain Ecotourism Reserve, uniting 118 immersive experiences in 25 natural areas in Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country.
Interpretative routes, wildlife observation, astro-tourism outings and workshops on traditional trades make up a proposal designed for those who wish to travel in a way that respects the environment and connect with the rural heritage of the Cantabrian coast.

Developed with the participation of 330 rural SMEs, 55 local agents and the four autonomous communities, and with the support of Turespaña, the project has received €938,000 from the Experiencias Turismo España programme, financed by Next Generation funds. “The aim is to encourage a more leisurely, more respectful, lower-emission and more immersive way of travelling,” said Lara Martínez, Vice-Minister of Tourism of the Principality of Asturias, the region that has coordinated the initiative on behalf of the regions involved.
Bookings are available at https://ingreenspain.es/reserva-ecoturista/, where you can choose between week-long routes or half-day activities. In addition to promoting ecotourism, the initiative contributes to boosting the local economy, diversifying the offer outside the high season and consolidating Green Spain as a sustainable benchmark destination.
