2025 Map of dog-friendly beaches in Spain this summer
27 August, 2025Travelling with pets remains a challenge in many coastal destinations, especially during the summer. To facilitate planning, RedCanina.es has updated its map of dog-friendly beaches in Spain for 2025, a key tool for those looking to enjoy the sea without leaving their dogs behind. Although legislation varies by region, some regions have made significant progress.
Catalonia, the Valencian Community and Andalusia are leading the way in dog-friendly beaches, with designated beaches, specific signposting and in some cases, even providing adapted services such as showers for pets. Outstanding examples are Playa de la Rubina (Girona), Mazarrón (Murcia) with five areas, or Fuengirola and Santa Pola, which are expanding their offerings year after year.

However, access is not homogeneous. In communities such as the Basque Country, dogs are not allowed on any beach during the high season, which continues to generate criticism from animal rights groups.
At the same time, pet tourism is becoming more professional: from accommodations with welcome packs to beach bars with dog-friendly menus. With more options available, destinations are reinforcing their commitment to an inclusive holiday model, adapted to new family demands.
