Barcelona to join European night train network in 2027

27 August, 2025

The city of Barcelona will be one of the Spanish destinations included in the future Nox night train network, which will begin operating in 2027. The aim is to offer a comfortable, private and affordable alternative to short-haul flights within Europe.

Nox, a Berlin-based company, plans to connect 100 European cities by train by 2035, including Barcelona and Paris, with prices starting at 79 euros for single cabins and 149 euros for double compartments. The proposal includes private rooms in all categories, with luggage space and some with panoramic windows.

Unlike traditional night trains, where cabin sharing is common, Nox is committed to a more intimate and functional model, aimed at both tourists and business travellers looking to save a night in a hotel and travel in a more sustainable fashion.

Trains will be equipped with catering services, space for bicycles and universal accessibility. Although Barcelona is the only Spanish destination confirmed so far, the network could be extended in the future to other cities in the country, positioning Spain to be an active part of the European rail mobility of the future.
