Discover astrotourism on voyages through the Spanish Mediterranean

2 March, 2022

"The sky and the stars are witnesses of our night routes, and with this seal we are not only committed to promoting its importance with astrotourism workshops, but we also offer added value to our guests", explained Georges Bassoul, general director of Baleària.

And it is that the shipping company has become the first mode of transport in the Mediterranean to obtain the Starlight seal, a certification that will allow it to offer, beginning in the summer of 2022, leisure activities related to astronomy on board its ships.

"We want guests to start enjoying their trip before reaching their destination, which is why we offer a list of services that turns the journey into an experience in itself", which is also targeted at all ages.

To do this, the shipping company will convert the deck of several of its night routes between the Peninsula and the Balearic and Canary Islands into a mobile astrotourism centre where it will offer sky and star observation workshops to passengers.

And, for its part, the Starlight Foundation will train the crew with basic knowledge of observation so that they can act as monitors on those routes that pass through suitable areas to enjoy the Sky.
