Lopesan wants to improve its range of hotels in the south of Gran Canaria
9 March, 2022The Lopesan Hotel Group company is promoting the construction of new hotels and the increase in the number of beds in the exclusive area of Meloneras, located in the south of Gran Canaria. This way, the firm believes that it would be possible to increase the island’s competitiveness as a quality tourist destination.
Recently, the commercial attaché of Lopesan Hotel Group and LS Invest, José Alba, pointed out that "the company has the necessary capital to invest in this strategic project, it has the land, with the capacity for development, but it is still waiting to receive the green light that will serve to lift restrictions on this situation, which has dragged on excessively over time”, he lamented.
The current situation is that the Lopesan Baobab Resort hotel was unveiled in 2009 and since then the expansion project designed for Meloneras has been at a standstill. The company estimates that, if it is undertaken, some 20,000 direct and indirect jobs could be created in that area of the island.
