Did you know the ‘European City of Wine’ is in Spain?
6 April, 2022The city of Aranda del Duero, in the province of Burgos, was chosen as ‘European City of Wine’ in 2021 by the European Network of Wine Cities (RENCEVIN), a title that, as a result of the pandemic, will now be held for all of 2022 as well. As such, it’s the perfect year to discover the up to 22 important activities programmed.
A stand-out among them is the Noche de Ronda, to be held on 18 May. A magical recreational-cultural exhibition in a day of free shows, most of them linked to wine and vines: workshops, concerts, fires, parades... and candles decorating streets and bridges.
Also worth mentioning is the Tapas, Pinchos and Banderillas Competition, or the Gastroduero, a gastronomic and wine fair held from 2 to 4 September. As well as the Gran Fiesta de la Vendimia (Grape Harvest Festival) on 24 September, featuring grape treading, traditional dances and a tasting of the first wine must.
On 8 November, the European Day of Wine Tourism will be held, a day highlighting the culture, heritage and traditions of wine-making towns and regions and their wine tourism offer. And a few days later, on 10 and 11 November, the first edition of the Wine Architecture Congress will take place.
