Spain’s tourism businesses go digital
1 June, 2022The Spanish government has introduced a new range of measures designed to modernise the business sector in its transition towards an omnichannel approach. Global investment by the EU’s NextGeneration fund for the period 2021-2023 is set to reach 415 million euros.
In addition to traditional businesses, other sectors will also benefit from the programme, with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism highlighting sustainability-oriented businesses in rural areas and commerce in more traditional tourist destinations as two of these beneficiaries, considering that those in the industry seek to strengthen these sectors to ensure they adapt to the future of tourism.
According to the Ministry, to ensure the ideal dissemination of these grants and benefits, work will be carried out in a coordinated fashion across different regional governments in a bid to allow SMEs to present their applications individually or through local tourism organisations.
