Madrid will be connected to Malta with 3 flights per week

22 June, 2022

The airline Air Malta recently announced in Madrid its reopening of a direct flight service between the Spanish capital and the island of Malta. After 10 years of non-operation, the route will now have a 3-flights-per-week frequency. The company will run flights between the two airports every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

“A well-interconnected European transport network is a prerequisite for a truly functional European internal market. The recently re-established Air Malta route to Madrid represents a positive development in this respect”, noted the Maltese Ambassador to Spain, Daniel Azzopardi.

Air Malta is currently restructuring and aims to increase its fleet to 14 aircraft. The restructuring plans include the replacement of the current fleet with more modern Airbus aircraft, as well as the reopening and creation of several routes linking the island to mainland Europe.
