Spanish hotels proved their resilience during the pandemic
13 July, 2022The Spanish hotel industry has highlighted the outstanding example of resilience shown by the sector during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has lasted more than two years. The sector suffered an almost total shutdown of activity at certain times, and had to cope with serious challenges for the rest.
This was made clear during the 5th edition of the ITH Innovation Summit, organised by the Hotel Technology Institute (ITH), which also highlighted the war in Ukraine as another turning point for the accommodation sector, but one which it expects to overcome.
The biggest challenge currently facing the Spanish hotel industry is meeting “the new market demands, with tourists expressing a shift in attitude, focusing more on experience, knowledge and flexibility”, the president of Paradores, Pedro Saura, noted in his speech at the meeting.
The president of AC Hotels by Marriott, Antonio Catalán, made special mention of Madrid, noting that “it has become the city of fashion, attracting a more selective client profile; entering European prices”.
