Gran Canaria stands out as a model for sustainable tourism
20 July, 2022The island of Gran Canaria stands out as a leading global tourist destination and has recently stood out especially for its efforts in the development of sustainable tourism . This has been further affirmed at the 1st edition of the Ibero-American Forum for High Level Tourism, which was held on the island during the month of June.
During the event, the ‘Declaration of Gran Canaria’ was approved, a document that outlines the island’s Sustainable Tourism model and was read out to the authorities present at this first edition of the forum, including the Director of Turespaña, Miguel Sanz.

It’s worth noting that the countries participating in the event vouched for Gran Canaria as one of the official locations for the Ibero-American Tourism Observatory, a title which, held alongside The Dominican Republic, will be ratified in 2023, at the XXVIII Meeting of Ibero-American Heads of State.
