Barcelona will host the Mobile World Congress until 2030
10 August, 2022The organising body of the Mobile World Congress, GSMA, has reached an agreement with Fira de Barcelona and event administrators for the event to be held in the city until 2030. From then on, “tacit and automatic renewals” of the relationship are envisaged, making the city the “permanent venue” for this international event.
The renewal agreement guarantees at least six more editions of Mobile in Barcelona, but in reality is a “long-term commitment”, as all agents involved in the agreement have stressed. “We now have a long road ahead of us”, said the GSMA CEO John Hoffman.
The contract also includes the exciting forecast that the Fira de Barcelona site extension on Gran Via de L’Hospitalet – the site that hosts Mobile – will be finished in 2026. Work will begin this autumn.
