Extra high-speed train services to run between Madrid-Malaga this summer

10 August, 2022

Renfe has announced its intention to bolster its high-speed train service (AVE) between Madrid and Malaga late on Thursday and Friday evenings during the summer period. Until September 2nd, a direct train will depart from Madrid at 21:30 and arrive in Malaga at 00:05.

With this addition to the usual schedule, Renfe is increasing the amount of late evening trains running to the Costa del Sol capital on summer weekends, increasing the service between the two capitals to 146 trains a week.

The rail company also brought two trains on the AVE Madrid-Malaga route back into opertaion on Friday 15 July. The schedule between both cities once more includes daily departures from Atocha at 15:35 and Malaga at 14:58, meaning the route is now up to 83% of the full service operating on the same date in 2019.

Alongside this increase in journeys, Renfe is continuously expanding the number of seats on high-demand AVE Madrid-Malaga trains (in double composition), especially at weekends.
