A new hiking route crosses 7 lighthouses in Mallorca

24 August, 2022

In July, the Mallorcan authorities presented the new 'Ruta de los Faros' hiking route, which goes past seven lighthouses on the island, located in the towns and villages of Capdepera, Portocolom, Cap de Ses Salines, Colònia de Sant Jordi, s'Estelella, Cap Blanc and Cala Figuera.

This 'Ruta de los Faros' runs through 12 municipalities of Mallorca and has a length of 285.6 kilometres, and it also connects with the Ruta de Pedra en Sec and the Ruta de Artà-Lluc. Adding the three routes together, the distance amounts to 719.58 kilometres.

The new route that has now been added to the Mallorca hiking trails has 12 stages that start in Cala Agulla, on the northeast coast, and goes through Cala Bona, Porto Cristo, Porto Colom, Cala d'Or, Cala Figuera, Sant Jordi, Cala Pi, Arenal, Son Caliu and Santa Ponça, to end up in Port de Andratx.

"One of the novelties of the Ruta de los Faros is that some stages, such as the one in Palma, follow an urban route. This is a new style of hiking route for Mallorca, something normally only seen in some of the bigger routes," noted the Concell de Mallorca organisation.
