Cruise passengers "set sail" from Madrid AVE station

24 August, 2022

Renfe Passengers and MSC Cruises have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at jointly promoting rail and maritime transport services for leisure. The alliance between the two companies means that the AVE Madrid-Puerta de Atocha station will become the "port of embarkation" for the 1,800 cruise passengers who sail with MSC Cruises from Valencia to the best destinations in the Mediterranean.

Renfe is offering cruise passengers 200 seats, 100 in each direction, every Saturday until 10 September, on the Madrid-València and Valencia-Madrid routes. The agreement between both companies has scheduled the AVE trains departing from Madrid Puerta de Atocha at 9.40am and the AVE trains departing from Valencia at 3.10pm as the link between the Spanish capital and the port of Valencia.

Passengers who book this service will be met by a hostess at Madrid Puerta de Atocha and will be accompanied from Valencia - Joaquín Sorolla station to the port, which is included in their booking, to facilitate their arrival on MSC Bellissima.

MSC Cruises carries more than 30,000 passengers every year from Valencia. By 2022, MSC Cruises will have 66 stopovers in the city, mainly thanks to two of its ships – MSC Bellissima and MSC Seaside – which spend the entire summer season in the Valencian capital.

This agreement has been made with the aim of bringing passengers closer to and facilitating their embarkation of MSC Bellissima, which will depart every Saturday from Valencia, with stops in Barcelona/Tarragona, Genoa, Livorno (Florence) and Naples.
