The 4 Spanish cities celebrating Picasso Year in 2023
19 October, 2022A total of four Spanish cities are getting ready to celebrate Picasso Year throughout 2023, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the universal painter Pablo Picasso’s death. These cities are: Malaga (where the artist was born), Madrid, Barcelona and A Coruña. He lived part of his life in all those and painted his works there.cultur
The events programme related to this anniversary started this October and won’t stop until late next year. The initiatives developed around the character of this tourism genius include 16 exhibitions in Spain alone, multiple talks and debates as well as a congress in Madrid in late 2022.
From all the planned activities, one exhibition stands out : ‘ La Gran Transformación’ which will be hosted by the Reina Sofía museum, guardian of his major work Guernica. It is worth mentioning that this exhibition is focused in 1906 the year when Pablo Picasso did his first approximations to cubism.
