9 November, 2022

The United Kingdom continues to be the first outbound provider of tourism to Spain, the arrival figures of visitors to the country in September show that one in four international tourists was British which confirms the love they profess for its beaches, offering and culture. As indicated by data compiled by Turespaña.

More concretely, 8.47 million international tourists arrived in Spain in September, representing 67.4% more than in the same month of last year. This is a very positive evolution but still -12.2% below 2019 data, the last year before the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A total of 24.2% were British visitors, over two million passengers. Also here the evolution was positive but bittersweet as it represented -13.1% of figures recorded in 2019. Moreover, this situation had repercussions in all autonomous host communities especially in the Balearics.
