Which Spanish city has been top of European MICE for 5 years?
9 November, 2022For the fifth consecutive year, Madrid has been crowned the leading destination for meetings and professional conference organisation. The Spanish capital has received the award of Europe’s Leading Meeting & Conference Destination 2021 in the 29th edition of the World Travel Awards, the prestigious awards of the tourist industry which, year after year, recognise excellence in its main key subsectors.
Professionals from the MICE sector of all Europe, who, with their grading in each invitation, place their trust in deciding what is the benchmark city for hosting large events. As well as revalidating its title as the best meeting destination in Europe, Madrid has a new challenge : to stand out, once again, for the fourth time, as the best destination of world meetings in the grand final of the World Travel Awards in December.
A recognition which boasts for three years and which shows, according to the delegated councillor of Tourism, Almudena Maíllo, “the high level of quality and competitiveness of meeting tourism in Madrid”. In her opinion, the WTA award “is a recognition of the latest years of work, investment and professionalisation” both by the City Hall and the rest of public institutions like the sector.
