16 November, 2022

Madrid and Barcelona will be the leading destinations in Europe next year. Meetings and events industry professionals are optimistic for 2023, with 65% saying overall spending will increase. Almost seven out of ten (67%) believe that attendance will return to pre-pandemic levels in one or two years.

This is indicated by the 12th annual Global Meetings & Events Forecast report by American Express Meetings & Events, prepared based on surveys of 580 professionals in 23 countries, and 77% are optimistic for next year, with a score of eight out of 10 , six points higher than the last report. Some maintain that the full recovery of the MICE sector will arrive in 2024.

Professionals assure us that internal meetings “will continue to be a priority”, more than before the pandemic, since organisations consider that face-to-face interactions are essential to improve productivity, connect teams, reduce turnover and attract the best talent. Likewise, they estimate that 87% of the meetings will have some face-to-face component and the number of participants will also increase.
