Cycling and wine tourism together? Yes, it’s possible in Spain
7 December, 2022In its commitment to cycling, the Ruta do Viño Rías Baixas is organising guided wine tourism routes. For this pilot experience, routes of medium difficulty have been set up, of about 35 kilometres, which run through the sub-areas of O Salnés and O Rosal. It can take 15 cyclists per route and registration is done through the Ruta's social networks.
The first experience took place late November and was a success. The athletes left at 9:30 a.m. from the Adega Mar de Frades and did a guided circular itinerary. At the end, the participants enjoyed a wine tourism experience consisting of a tasting of Mar de Frades wines and an aperitif to replenish their energy.
In a second tour developed a day later through the sub-area of O Rosal, again at 9:30 a.m. but this time starting from the Valmiñor winery, a new guided route was taken, also circular and of the same length ending with a tasting of Valmiñor wines and an aperitif. This is a new experience which is expected to continue.
