53 Gran Canaria tourism companies certify their sustainability
14 December, 2022Tourists now prioritise establishments and a holiday experience with a low carbon footprint and, for the moment, there are already 53 companies in Gran Canaria that have joined the Biosphere and Turismo de Gran Canaria initiative to manage their personalised business sustainability plans.
The hotels Anamar Suites, Bull Dorado Beach & Spa and H10 Playa Meloneras Palace are some of the brands which have already passed the requirements. These have achieved recognition for their good practice and hold their Biosphere certification to show potential customers their environmental action.
The island has a plan which involves “diversifying our offer and also facing a necessary digitisation”, assured the Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo. Diversification, the progressive adoption of more sustainable tourism models and investment in new technologies are key factors which will allow it to become a sustainable destination.
