Gran Canaria improves offer and promotes sustainable tourism
4 January, 2023Turismo de Gran Canaria has presented the first client report in the municipalities of the North of Gran Canaria, which states that one in four tourists visits one of the 11 municipalities that make up this location. The study aims to discover the new criteria, interests and demands which are imposed in the tourist reality of the post-pandemic era.
The Minister of Tourism, Carlos Álamo, and the mayor of Arucas, Juan José Facundo, as president of the Commonwealth of Municipalities of Northern Gran Canaria, highlighted that this initiative, the first of its kind, responds to the intention to implement joint projects to encourage tourism development, under sustainability criteria.
Based on the new study, the possibilities of growth will be explored, again under the criteria of a development model which is sustainable and suitable with care for the environment as the island of Gran Canaria has a natural, cultural and landscape heritage suitable for this.
