New drones will monitor the Spanish railway network
11 January, 2023Renfe has tendered the contracting of a security service with drones. This investment, a pioneer in the railway field, will have an investment of 3.5 million euros and considers 76,720 flight hours. This initiative goes hand in hand with current security services and will be dynamic as it can operate on the entire Spanish territory.
The main railway operator’s aim is, on the one hand, to discourage all those activities which may generate a risk for the users, assets or personnel of the network, and on the other, the early detection and capture of images to allow the identification of the perpetrators of such actions, if applicable.
For this, there will be permanently recording cameras which will allow suitable detection of the different risk circumstances, as well as the identification of people and vehicle registration plates in any visibility condition, since in the event of bad lighting conditions, there will be thermal cameras. Spain, which is already considered as a safe destination, moves a step closer to optimisation with this initiative.
