National Geographic puts 2 Spanish towns among the 10 best in the world

18 January, 2023

Montefrío, a municipality in the Andalusian province of Granada, has once again been selected by National Geographic as one of the ten towns in the world with the best views, just like in 2015. This is a town that is characterised mainly by the rock where the Church of the Villa and its old castle are erected.

Located just 50 kilometres from Granada capital, its city centre is under the rock mentioned above. It was declared a National Historic-Artistic Site in 1982. “Almost seven years ago we were placed on the international tourism map, and since then our town has been transformed, experiencing a true international tourism 'boom'”, the mayoress said about the publication of the renowned travel magazine.

The other town that National Geographic places in its World Top Ten is Castellfollit de la Roca, a small town which stands on a spectacular 50-metre-high basaltic cliff, located in the Garrotxa region (Gerona, Catalonia), which is one of the entrance doors to the natural park of the same name. Its medieval route is well worth visiting.
