A 16th century palace in Castilla will be a luxury thermal hotel

29 March, 2023

The authorities of Castilla y León have awarded the historic Palace of the Condes de Miranda, better known as the Palacio de Avellaneda, in Peñaranda de Duero (Burgos), to the Castilla Termal chain to become a five-star hotel. It will have 78 rooms, a thermal area, space for events and different restaurant areas with different gastronomic offers.

Declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 1923 and closed by the Junta of Castilla y León in 2011, this building will become the chain’s sixth establishment. Following its business model to rehabilitate historical heritage to convert it into high-end thermal hotels, Castilla Termal requested the concession of the property for hotel purposes, which has now been approved by the Junta of Castilla y León.

Specifically, this will be valid for 50 years, with extensions up to 75. The chain will invest 12 million euros in the works which will turn the Palace into an international benchmark thermal hotel and plans to employ around 80 people, most of them from the area where the construction is located.
