24 May, 2023The Spanish businessman Miguel Fluxá, founder and president of Grupo Iberostar, has been named Best CEO of 2023 by Forbes in Spain. This prestigious recognition highlights Fluxá’s business career and his exceptional leadership in the global growth of the Mallorcan hotel group with a firm commitment to quality and sustainability in all its operations.
In turn, Fluxá considered it “an honour” to receive this recognition and stressed that “we are a family business with strong values that have helped us shape Iberostar's corporate culture, based on quality and sustainability in the long term”. He valued the award as a “testimony” of the dedication of the more than 30,000 professionals who have worked for the group.
Fluxà started at Viajes Iberia in 1956 and turned it into an important issuing group. In 1973 he created one of the first Spanish tour operators, Iberojet and in 1991, Sunworld, the first tour operator with Spanish capital in England. In 1979 he began its hotel activity, in 1983 he created the Iberostar brand and in 1993 he began its international expansion in the Dominican Republic.
