Palma de Mallorca extends its taxi service in high season
14 June, 2023Palma de Mallorca will have 200 more taxis this summer to meet the growing demand of tourists in high season in the Balearic capital, after the Sustainable Mobility area of the City Council of the Balearic capital and the taxi sector reached an agreement to activate that number of new temporary licences until September.
There are currently 1,246 licences in Palma. It has also been agreed that the allocation of temporary licences will be carried out by means of a lottery among all the admitted applications and that the validity of the licences will end in late September. The vehicles that will be able to provide this taxi service on a temporary basis may be up to six years old if they join the fleet for the first time.
In addition, the City Council and the taxi sector will draw up a regulatory plan for 2024, with the aim of defining the conditions for temporary licences on a permanent basis, in order to meet the demand during the high season.
