EasyJet to open its fourth base in Spain at Alicante Airport
14 June, 2023EasyJet will open a new seasonal base at Alicante Airport, located in El Altet. The new site, which will be operational from spring 2024, will be the airline's fourth base in Spain - Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and Malaga. It will have three A320 family based aircraft, each with a capacity of 186 seats.
So the initial offer in capacity for the first summer season 2024 will be 1.62 million seats, based on demand projections, which is 16% more than in the current summer season whereby easyJet has 1.4 million seats offered through 11 routes.
Javier Gándara, EasyJet's director general for Southern Europe, said: “We are proud to announce a new seasonal base in Spain, a strategic market in which we continue to grow, boost tourism and create jobs in a year in which we expect the expected recovery to consolidate.”
