Barceló opens a new hotel in the Mar Menor de Murcia
19 July, 2023Barceló Hotel Group has opened the Occidental Mar Menor, a 4-star hotel in the municipality of Los Urrutias, in Cartagena, Murcia. The establishment, which was formerly known as “La Perla de Levante”, is an all-inclusive family beachfront hotel, located a mere 200 metres from the beach.
The Occidental Mar Menor has 148 rooms with terraces overlooking the sea; a 40,000 square metre solarium with 3 outdoor swimming pools, one of which is Olympic size; as well as 3 tennis courts and a gym. The hotel has a buffet restaurant with local and international cuisine; a bar, 2 food trucks and a Breeze gastrobar by the pool.
In the city of Murcia, where Barceló Hotel Group has operated the Barceló Murcia 7 Coronas hotel since 2017, the chain now manages the Occidental Murcia Agalia and Allegro Murcia Azarbe hotels, following renovation. In 2025 it plans to reopen the Arco de San Juan hotel, converted into a 5-star hotel, which will be the first of this category in the capital.
