Environmental sensitisation on the beaches of Las Palmas

26 July, 2023

This summer, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, through the Ciudad de Mar department, is joining the European environmental awareness programme 'Every Can Counts', which promotes the responsible use and recycling of disposable drinks cans to raise awareness about the care of the beaches and promote sustainable and clean tourism.

During the weekends in July, environmental educators will tour two of the main beaches of the capital of Gran Canaria, Las Canteras beach and Las Alcaravaneras beach, with collection backpacks to raise awareness of the importance of minimising the use of single-use containers and recycling drinks cans to combat climate change.

As part of the campaign, educators survey bathers to find out their consumption and recycling habits on the beaches and their perception of municipal services, in order to help the City Council improve waste management in these public areas.
