Iberostar reduces its food waste with the help of AI

The implementation of the Winnow system technology in 48/ over 100 hotels of the Spanish chain Iberostar is bearing fruit, having reduced food waste by 28% in the first half of the year. Iberostar Hotels & Resorts thus confirms significant progress on its path towards a future without waste sent to landfill, as part of its Wave of Change sustainability movement.

Iberostar’s joint work with Winnow, as highlighted by the hotel’s Global Director of Sustainability, Megan Morikawa, “is testament to our commitment to a zero-waste future. It is truly inspiring to see our chefs embrace the programme and create tangible change. This achievement reinforces our position as a leader in responsible tourism”.

In turn, Marc Zornes, Winnow’s CEO, emphasised that “Iberostar has shown incredible dedication to the fight against food waste and its ambitious goals align perfectly with Winnow’s mission”. He is therefore excited to “see the positive impact our partnership has already had and we look forward to continuing to support Iberostar in reaching its goal of zero food waste by 2025.”
