The 15 Q flags of Tourism Quality which fly on Calvià’s beaches

11 October, 2023

This year the Mallorcan municipality of Calvià re-validates the 15 Q flags of Tourist Quality awarded by the Spanish Institute for Tourist Quality (ICTE) out of the total of 42 obtained in the Balearic Islands. Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual stressed the “importance of maintaining the beaches as one of our main attractions, in line with the demands of tourists and residents.”

The awarded beaches are: Buganvillia, Illetes Balneario, Cala Contesa, Cala Portals Nous, Oratorio, Es Cargador, Palmanova, Son Maties, Santa Ponça, Magaluf, Cala Vinyes, Cala de ses Peñas Rojas (El Toro), La Romana, Torà (Peguera) and Palmira. Together they make up 4.3 kilometres of beaches of recognised quality out of Mallorca’s 20 kilometres.

In order to obtain a Q flag, an audit needs to be passed which evaluates the requirements demanded by the ICTE regarding maintenance tasks, improvement of facilities and services and their continuity over time. Calvià’s 15 flags place the municipality in third place at national level, only behind Marbella (19) and Sanxenxo (16).
