2 Spanish airports among the busiest airports in the world
25 October, 2023Analysis of historical international passenger departures data by airport from January to July 2023, combined with forecast data from August to December 2023, reveals several notable trends compared to the equivalent figures for 2019.
After Covid-19, the extent to which outbound traffic has recovered at major global hubs varies considerably. ForwardKeys has launched the ranking of the world’s busiest airports, an analysis of global air traffic up to 2023, in which the top 20 is led by the Middle East, but Europe dominates with 11 facilities.
Among the latter, two are Spanish. Specifically, the two main Spanish airports in terms of traffic that appear in the ranking prepared by ForwardKeys are Madrid-Barajas, in tenth position, and Barcelona-El Prat, in sixteenth. Both form part of the Aena network.
