Calvià promotes itself as a congress, sports and culture destination
29 November, 2023Beyond sun and the beach, the Mallorcan municipality of Calvià wants to orientate its offer from now on to other tourist segments. For this reason, it is offering to host congresses, sport and culture. With these proposals, its Town Hall officials arrived at the World Travel Market fair in London. The municipal delegation presented the main lines of the Calvià 365 strategic plan.
The mayor, Juan Antonio Amengual, explained that “it is a question of adding value and dynamising the tourist, cultural and sporting attractions of the municipality in order to extend beyond the season from May to October. We have sports infrastructures, museums, theatres..... We want to make them available to residents and tourists for events, as they are underused in winter”, he stressed.
As a result of this objective to develop a tourist activity for congresses, incentive tourism... Calvià is in contact with agencies specialised in MICE, as well as in sports and cultural tourism. In this respect, the mayor reiterated that “we offer much more than just the summer all year round”.
