5 Spanish cities with accessible Christmas markets

27 December, 2023

Christmas markets are very popular at Christmas and New Year’s Eve. But not all of them have the necessary facilities to enable people with reduced mobility to visit them. The specialised company Stannah España has identified a total of five that are adapted, and they are located in Madrid, Barcelona, San Sebastián, Seville and Valencia.

In Madrid, the Christmas market in the Plaza Mayor allows access without architectural barriers obstructing passage. The Paseo de la Castellana hosts another of the most important and beautiful in the capital but with a more gastronomic offer. In Barcelona, in front of the Cathedral of Santa Eulalia, the Santa Llúcia Fair is held every year, one of the oldest Christmas markets in Spain.

Due to its central location in a wide, flat pedestrian area, the San Sebastián Christmas market is another of the most accessible. In Seville, very close to the cathedral and the Giralda, in the Plaza Nueva, one of the city’s most important markets is held. Finally, in Valencia, the Town Hall square is home to another of the most outstanding areas of this type.
