The first hotel of the Gran Meliá brand opens in Barcelona

7 February, 2024

One of Barcelona’s most iconic hotels, the former Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I, reopened its doors on 24 January after being closed to the public for four years. The new establishment is reborn with a new name, brand and operator, after a €40-million investment. Torre Melina will thus be the first Gran Meliá in Barcelona.

The hotel is located at the top of Avenida Diagonal in Barcelona, next to the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya. Torre Melina Gran Meliá has 391 rooms and suites, 18 indoor and outdoor event rooms, a private rooftop with 360º views, several pools, high-end wellness services, as well as Torre Melina’s exclusive modernist gardens (25,000 m2).

The rooms include 61 suites, divided into 14 types. In addition, within the hotel is the RedLevel space, with reserved areas, personalised attention and premium service just for staying in the RedLevel rooms and suites.

The RedLevel rooms and suites are located from the 10th to the 15th floor.
