Air Europa reinforces its fleet with Boeing 787 Dreamliner
7 February, 2024Air Europa gave a special welcome to its latest Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in January. The company organised an event at which it also showed, for the first time, Globalia’s new maintenance hangar at Madrid-Barajas airport. The building, which is expected to come into service in March and in which more than €30 million have been invested, will become a centre of technical excellence for the airline.
The new hangar is 140 metres long and 23 metres high inside in a completely open-plan space, which will accommodate up to three wide-body aircraft, such as the Dreamliner, or up to six narrow-body aircraft, such as the 737. In total, it occupies an area of over 22,400 m2 and a maintenance surface area of 11,130 m2.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner was the main protagonist on that day. One of two units that arrived in December, it precedes the four deliveries that will take place throughout 2024. The aim is to reinforce the fleet’s capacity and continue to increase the number of routes and frequencies planned for 2024.
