EasyJet to open a new London Southend-Gran Canaria route

29 May, 2024

EasyJet will open a new base at London Southend airport. It will be its tenth UK facility, with three 186-seat A320 aircraft based there. With this addition, the airline is already planning to expand its route network for the summer of 2025, highlighting one with Gran Canaria. In fact, the company already offers connections from London Southend to Palma de Mallorca and Malaga.

More specifically, EasyJet has reopened its bases at the latter two airports and inaugurated the new one in Alicante, kicking off the 2024 summer season with a schedule of over 6.1 million seats between the three bases until October, which represents an increase in capacity offered of 41.1% compared to the same period in 2023, bringing the fleet assigned to Spain to 19 aircraft.

The British low cost airline has scheduled for its seasonal bases in Malaga and Palma, with a capacity of 1.9 million and 2.7 million seats, respectively, with increases of 7.1% and 7.9% compared to 2023 capacity. In addition, at the new Alicante base, it has programmed 1.5 million seats, an increase of around 10%.
