How many Spanish restaurants are in the Top10 worldwide? Surprise!
26 June, 2024The World's 50 Best Restaurants list features several Spanish restaurants, including first and second place, awarded to Disfrutar, in Barcelona and Asador Etxebarri, in Atxondo (Basque Country), while in fourth place in the ranking is Diverxo, in Madrid. So Spanish gastronomic temples top the Top 5.
Further on, at number 14, is the restaurant Quique Dacosta, in Dénia (Valencia), and at number 28 is Elkano, in Getaria (Basque Country). Thus, in total, there are five Spanish restaurants in The World's 50 Best Restaurants, which represents 10% of a worldwide ranking. This figure offers a good perspective of the evolution of Spanish gastronomy in recent years.
It should be noted that Spain returns in 2024 to the top of a ranking that elBulli - closed as a restaurant in 2011 - led on five occasions and El Celler de Can Roca on two - the last one nine years ago.
