Where is the best beach in Spain?

24 July, 2024

In Spain there are many beaches where you can enjoy your holidays. This summer, 638 of them have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag. But which is the best? Although there are different rankings with distinct conclusions, the Condé Nast Traveler ranking, which is one of the best known, favours the sandy beach of Zarautz, in the Basque Country, as the best in Spain in 2024.

This specialised publication has drawn up a list in which the beaches of Famara, in Lanzarote, and Cala Saona in Formentera are in second and third place. The 2.5-kilometre-long beach is famous for its waves, which attract surfers from all over the world, as well as its promenade, its lively atmosphere and the gastronomic offer of the area.

In 2023 the winner was Playa de Bolonia in Cádiz; in 2021 it was Valdevaqueros, in Cádiz; in 2020, San Antonio del Mar, in Asturias; in 2019, the prize went to Papagayo, in Lanzarote.
