The best restaurants in the world: one in three is Spanish
18 September, 2024The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list is generous towards Spanish haute cuisine, as one out of every three temples of gastronomy included in this global ranking is Spanish. In fact, the list is headed by Disfrutar, considered the best restaurant in the world in the 2024 edition.
It should be noted that Spain returns to the top of a ranking that the renowned elBulli - closed as a restaurant in 2011 - led on five occasions and El Celler de Can Roca did so on two occasions - the last one nine years ago. Therefore, Spanish haute cuisine is now once again at the forefront.
But the succession of awards continues. Etxebarri stands out in second place in the Top150 Opinionated About Dining (OAD) list, carried out by 1,080 international experts on restaurants in Europe, and in which almost a third are Spanish. Rounding up the above, Dabiz Muñoz is the winner of The Best Chef Award for the last three years.
