Spain closes the summer with record passenger numbers at 18 airports
2 October, 2024Spain has registered an all-time record number of passengers this summer. August was an all-time record month for traffic, with over 32 million, maintaining the upward trend observed since last year. And the Spanish network recorded records in the summer, between June and August, with almost 93.5 million and so far this year, between January and August, over 208 million passengers.
In August 2024, Aena received 32,116,068 passengers, 7.4% more than in the same month in 2023 and 254,137 aircraft movements were handled, 7.7% more than last year. Of a total 32,045,304 commercial passengers, 22,561,824 correspond to international flights, 9.6% more than in August 2023 and 9,483,480 domestic flights, 2.7% more than last year.
In addition, 18 airports have broken passenger records for the month of August: Madrid-Barajas, Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga, Alicante, Ibiza, Gran Canaria, Valencia, Tenerife Sur, Lanzarote, Seville, Menorca, Bilbao, Tenerife Norte, La Palma, Melilla, El Hierro, Córdoba and Son Bonet.
